I, like many people, love Oreos. But the last time I had them, they tasted super fake, gave me some kind of chemical sensitivity reaction like itchy face and they don’t seem to taste as good as they used to despite being so unhealthy. And yet, I still want to eat them. I’m in Japan and the Oreos here are even worse than the US ones have become, and somehow even worse than the Canada ones, which don’t taste like the American ones at all, more like hydrox.
I like Paul Newman products generally, it’s good quality for grocery store level stuff. I tried to read reviews on these online and people say they are great but it wasn’t clear how they relate to Oreos. I would say if you really want an Oreo, this will do the trick while also being healthier. The cookie is crisper, even a tad hard, the cream seems more sugary and a bit less creamy and not as much like whipped shortening. Cookie is a nice dark cocoa taste, cream is decent besides sweet for my taste. I’d even say there might be more grams of sugar in one of these than even sugar worshiping American ones. That slows you down, so that’s a good thing. It’s more 2-3 cookies than 5-7 and you feel maybe you had enough sugar for the day (tolerance may vary). The bag lasted me awhile because I opened them before the Christmas treat bonanza, I only shared one or two, and they didn’t get stale despite being open for a few (?) weeks since I kept in a ziplock bag.
I’d definitely get these again and may try the chocolate ones next.
